Sidemount Diving originated from the United Kingdom cave divers. They used smaller scuba tanks, attached on the side to fit into smaller cave passages.<\/p>\n
It then transformed into its more modern way in Florida and Mexico and has been used as a tool to push exploration in underwater caves that\u00a0backmounted twinset<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>wouldn’t allow to pass. More recently it reached the open water diving world and is now taught as an entry door to technical diving but also as a wonderful and versatile diving technique for recreational scuba divers.<\/span><\/p>\n Many people still think that carrying two tanks is cumbersome, hard to manage both underwater and at the surface, that it requires too much equipment and is only for a handful of crazy tech divers. This vision is outdated.
